Superintendent of Bow School District insults Budget Committee Print E-mail
Written by Paul Lavallee

As a taxpayer of Bristol, I was mortified when I heard Dr.Dean Cascadden, PhD, Superintendent of Bow School District and former employee of the Newfound Area School District, say that the elected school budget committee did not represent the demographics and was made up of old men, and no women.

Again, the budget committee is voted in by the town residents in the region. How could such a supposed leader set such an age biased, prejudiced, bigotted remark. He clearly is just a mouthpiece of the special interest school employees who bully their way through the budget deliberations meeting year after year to intimidate the committee and use emotional rhetoric to try and scare parents into voting in more increases in the budget while the student population continues to decline.

While we are at it - I never did get a complete answer as to why the Superintendent of schools Marie Ross feels that $16k/student cost, a 1teacher to 9 student ratio, and ranking in the bottom third of NH schools justifies the budget ammendment the "Doctor", the minority school committee members and the swarm of teachers voted in.

Believe me, this will cause a taxpayer turnout at the polls that puts the warrant articles in jeopardy. This school system needs reform and and education in how to be effective and efficient at the same time. Stop acting like the taxpayers have unlimited tolerance for abuse of their money. Especially in this economy.

This school and town need to wake up to reality, and start cutting spending. You need to show respect to the elected budget committees. Bristol taxes have grown way beyond population growth or inflation. Your seasonal taxpayers are fed up as are residents.

Learn how to do more for less and learn to respect your elders and your bosses (the taxpayers.)
